Viddles & Bits

I don’t know much about computer hardware and such things like that, but I know a little. One of my friends won a laptop, although the laptop hasn’t got a thing on it, and its not a name brand I have ever heard of, its still pretty great that she won. I entered the same contest, but they only gave away 6 of them lil babies, and I wasn’t that lucky. But she called me and was askin me all kinds of questions about it. One of them was about memory and ram, I dont know about that and I don’t have to deal with it, so I told her she was just gonna have to call someone else. I wouldn’t want to give her the wrong information anyhow.

Well since its summer and the swim team started, Im back to whining again about taking them all over the place for the meets. Yes I get whiney about it. Not that Im not glad that they are in something and keeping active, I just get so tired of running them all over the place. Besides its been getting nasty humid so it hasn’t been the funnest the last few meets. Well now my big complaint is the cost of snacks at the concession stands. We bring a cooler and put waters and snacks in it, but they are always hungry during these meets, I spose its all that swimming, anyway the concession stands all vary, but I think they should add  popcorn machines. That would be a good light snack. Don’t have to load them up with salt and butter, most kids love a lightly buttered popcorn for a snack. That to me would be better than nachos with loads of cheese, chili, and onions. Thats what we offer. Yikes, can you say overload? Just a thought.

Since the kids have been out of school, I admit I have had the pleasure of sleeping in, to a certain degree really. I still have to go to work, but I don’t go early. Well anyhow, I get to usually sleep in a little bit and by the time we all get up, the sun is shining, the house is light inside so we don’t have to turn on lights. Well yesterday we had to get up early for a swim meet and I was acting like an idiot. I couldn’t find the bathroom lighting and tripped over several things, including poor Nicko, I fell on him. Hubby got a good hearty laugh about it too, since he sat and watched while I acted like a lunatic trying to get going. Ugh. Funny thing is the meet was canceled till this afternoon since it was storming like crazy so we went all the way up there for nothing. Oh well.

With all the storms that hit, the kids and I are all on edge. My mom has been trying to get me and the kids to come visit her for a month or so, and we are seriously wanting to do so. Its just for a break which I think we can all use. But I told my mom no way am I doing the Chicago travel through O’hare, last time that didn’t go well. Now this time I would like to go through Midway if its possible. I can’t imagine carting bags and 2 kids all over O’hare. That wouldn’t be fun and too much work. So we will be checking into it and seeing what the best deal is. Its even possible that hubby wont even agree to it. I don’t think he can handle being on his own for more than a few days..lol

Right sure thats not going to happen anytime soon. With all the damage Nebraska and Iowa have gotten with all the storms lately, there is so much cleanup and recouping going on. mortgage lenders are probably pulling their hair out about now. We actually have seen 2 houses that would be perfect but we can’t even think of moving right now. Just getting cable and internet and phone to keep working is a blessing at this point. Doesn’t look like the kids will be going to camp this summer. The camp they were supposed to go to was destroyed by a tornado so its also been closed for the summer. Its horrible. I think mother nature had her fun with us, I hope shes tired and gives us just a little bit of a break, we could sure use it.

Well thats it, I have to go out again and replace my sunglasses. This time my daughter, god love her, she sat on them. I really like these glasses too, so it just made me a tad bit cranky about it. Since May I have already bought 2 pairs of them and now Im working on pair number 3. I think Im going to be smart this time and buy 2 pairs, one really cheap pair and maybe a pair of vintage sunglasses and hide the good ones. She also likes to borrow my shades so that idea is sounding better and better by the minute. Maybe I will get lucky and make it through at least a month without having to buy another pair.

Oh I am in shock. I got Cody and Kirsten’s school supply list for next year, and Im not kidding, Cody’s list is a page long and there is all kinds of things on there I wouldn’t normally think you would need for school supplies. I tell ya, I think this coming up year the only thing they are providing for the kids is desks, chairs and some of the textbooks. I know they need more things every year, but it just seems to get to be too much. Hes going to junior high, and they need all these things not only for class but now special stuff for gym and special classes like art, and music. Im so looking forward to having 2 kids in junior high.

I know I just took a trip to visit family back home in Kentucky and Ohio, but I have really been missing my mom and dad lately. They can’t really come out here, my dad is always working and right now they are in the middle of a goverment project on their farm trying to help with water cleanup or something of that sort. My mom and I always joke that she needs to win the lottery, so she can take a helicopter or a private jet charter and make a trip here or send a jet to grab us for a long weekend. That would be so great. I guess its just a dream though, so for now I will just miss them allot and maybe come up with some money to make a trip home again sometime in the near near future.

Well I saw on the news last night with my regular tv, actually through the fuzz on the screen, that we had more tornado damage. It makes me sad because in the midst of hearing about the storms and the cleanup, now we have to hear about people looting and such. Whats wrong with people these days. They have even softly mentioned bringing in police in tactical gear to watch for looters and such. They are talking about people offering to help and then helping themselves to whatever they can find. I just find that so wrong. I mean these people have lost so much and now to have to deal with that. The world is a scary place nowadays.

Well if anyone has been paying attention to the news, you might have noticed Nebraska and Iowa getting slammed with storms the last couple weeks. Now it seems we can’t even recoup from one storm and now we have major tornado problems. I guess this is the worst storm year for us in a long time. We finally got to go back home, but I still don’t have cable. We have phone now though which is great. No complaining though, at least we still have a home. Its so bad lately that all the hotels are just opening their doors to let people stay without paying. Hilton Head rentals well thats another option thats being offered. You can’t even imagine how bad it is around here. We have to drive to another town to get online, the library no longer has internet, they tell us it will be another week at the most. Im trying to be patient. Hope you all are as well.
